Wrapping Up

 Hi,

Well, Autumn is well and truly here and winter is just around the corner. I used to dread this time of the year but I got to a point where I thought I need to embrace this instead. What a waste of half the year if you are miserable!

So instead I focus on all the things I love and blot out the things I hate about this time of the year such as miserable dark, rainy days. The first thing I look forward to now is Halloween but mainly for the pumpkins.

However, the best thing by far at this time of year is being able to wrap up warm in all things woolly!  I've already shared my crochet earwarmers with you and the pattern for the "Hampton Earwarmers " in my previous post.  So this time I'm going to focus on scarves.

I do like an infinity scarf and I find these great to quickly crochet up.  These are a few of the scarves I have made and some are available to buy in my Etsy shop. (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Studi0107)

These have all been made using my own pattern called the "Autumn Days Infinity Scarf" which I am happy to share with you.  I have listed the pattern below but if you do want to buy a downloadable version to print then it is, also, available in my Etsy shop.

   Autumn Days Infinity Scarf Pattern

What You Need:-

4mm crochet hook
Northern Lights by James C Brett DK
(Any DK of choice will work or for a thicker scarf use a chunkier yarn but ensure you check the yarn for the correct sized crochet hook)
Wool needle and stitch marker

Abbreviations:-

Chain = ch
Slip Stitch = ss
Half Double Crochet = HDC

Pattern

Chain 170, join with a slipstitch.  Take care not to twist the loop.

Round 1  Ch1, HDC in the same stitch and then round.  DO NOT JOIN but place a stitch marker so you can count the rounds. (170 stitches)

Round 2   HDC in the third loop (see picture below) around to the stitch marker.

Round 3 – Round 37    As Round 2, but when you reach the stitch marker on round finish by slip stitching into the first stitch of the previous round. (If you have used a chunkier yarn then repeat rounds until the scarf measures approx. 8 inches.

Finish:- Use the wool needle to sew ends in neatly.

How to HDC in the third loop:-

Wrap yarn around the hook as you would to complete a normal HDC then insert the crochet hook into the third loop directly behind the front and back loop.
Continue to pull yarn through as you would a normal HDC stitch.

Just a note:-

I am happy for you to make and sell finished items from this pattern.  However, you may not reproduce or sell the pattern itself.  I just ask that you give me credit as the designer and that you link to my Etsy Shop (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/studi0107) if selling online.

I hope you enjoy creating your own "Autumn Days" Infinity scarves please let me see your finished results.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Bye for now

Ear, Ear!

Hi,

As the winter season is fast approaching here in the UK I have been busy stocking up my Etsy Shop with earwarmers.  I have made a range of earwarmers using a pattern from www.littlecrochetmonkey.com in a range of coloured yarns.

I decided to have a go at my own design but instead of cinching them I went for a twist. Again, I have a stock of these available in my Etsy Shop which I have made in a range of yarns.

I have found that a double knit yarn is perfect for these but you could try with a bulkier yarn for a thicker band.   Part of the reason I have set up my blog was to share my pattern designs with you so please find below the pattern I used to create my twisted earwarmer which I have called the "Hampton Earwarmer".  If you would prefer a printed or PDF copy of the pattern this is available in my Etsy Shop too.

What You Need:-
4mm crochet hook
Twinkle Yarn by James C Brett DK
(Any DK of choice will work)
Wool needle

Abbreviations:-
Chain = ch
Slip Stitch = ss
Half Double Crochet = HDC

Pattern
Chain 75
Row 1  HDC in 2nd chain from the hook then slip stitch in the next stitch. *In the next stitch HDC followed by a slip stitch in the stitch after.  Repeat from * to the end of the row.
Row 2  Ch 1, *HDC in the same stitch, then a ss in the next stitch.  Repeat from * to the end of the row.
Row 3 – 15  Repeat row 2.  Fasten off leaving a long thread for sewing together.
Twist the band and pin the ends together ready to join.
To Join:- Use a wool needle and thread the long end through the needle.  Turn the pinned seam towards you so you can see the edges.  Sew through the outside loops only along the two edges to join together.  Ensure you keep an even tension as you sew so you do not pull it too tightly.  When you reach the end darn the end in and fasten off.

Enjoy making and let me know how you get on.

Bye for now

So it begins...

Hi,

Welcome to Studio107.  My name is Yvonne but I tend to be better known as Von by all those that know me.

I am a Teacher, Wife and Mum of two grown up children, in my day to day life, but when I get time to myself I indulge in my creativity. This tends to involve mainly crocheting, knitting or sewing.

You will find me, in any spare moment I can grab, either planning or creating something sat on my sofa in my living room at 107.  My constant companions are my two King Charles Cavaliers, who are more often than not sat either side of me!

Oh, another note I am huge coffee lover so you will regularly see the obligatory coffee in a lot of my photos but that is because I genuinely enjoy the odd cup or three, or four!

I have had an Instagram @Studi0107 (www.instagram.com) account for a while now and enjoy sharing the journey and finished outcomes of my making. I was taught to sew by Mum and I am a self taught crocheter and knitter. I, also sometimes, enjoy making simple jewellery items too.

Many of my finished items I sell on my etsy shop(www.etsy.com/uk/shop/studi0107) as Studi0107. I love being able to wrap and send a finished item off to its forever home.

I have decided to set up this blog and share my makes(and mistakes) as I go. I have been beginning to design my own patterns for crochet, knitting and sewing and felt it would be great to share these with others too.

The aim of my blog is to inspire you with my makes, and share free patterns for you to have a go too. I know I have been inspired, and enjoyed, following other bloggers patterns and makes over the years so I hope this gives a little back to the creative community.

I am planning on uploading a blog post every 3 - 4 weeks so that it fits in with my full time work. Please pop by, take a look and feel free to be inspired and use my patterns.

Bye for now
