Ear, Ear!

Hi,

As the winter season is fast approaching here in the UK I have been busy stocking up my Etsy Shop with earwarmers.  I have made a range of earwarmers using a pattern from www.littlecrochetmonkey.com in a range of coloured yarns.

I decided to have a go at my own design but instead of cinching them I went for a twist. Again, I have a stock of these available in my Etsy Shop which I have made in a range of yarns.

I have found that a double knit yarn is perfect for these but you could try with a bulkier yarn for a thicker band.   Part of the reason I have set up my blog was to share my pattern designs with you so please find below the pattern I used to create my twisted earwarmer which I have called the "Hampton Earwarmer".  If you would prefer a printed or PDF copy of the pattern this is available in my Etsy Shop too.

What You Need:-
4mm crochet hook
Twinkle Yarn by James C Brett DK
(Any DK of choice will work)
Wool needle

Abbreviations:-
Chain = ch
Slip Stitch = ss
Half Double Crochet = HDC

Pattern
Chain 75
Row 1  HDC in 2nd chain from the hook then slip stitch in the next stitch. *In the next stitch HDC followed by a slip stitch in the stitch after.  Repeat from * to the end of the row.
Row 2  Ch 1, *HDC in the same stitch, then a ss in the next stitch.  Repeat from * to the end of the row.
Row 3 – 15  Repeat row 2.  Fasten off leaving a long thread for sewing together.
Twist the band and pin the ends together ready to join.
To Join:- Use a wool needle and thread the long end through the needle.  Turn the pinned seam towards you so you can see the edges.  Sew through the outside loops only along the two edges to join together.  Ensure you keep an even tension as you sew so you do not pull it too tightly.  When you reach the end darn the end in and fasten off.

Just a note:-
I am happy for you to make and sell finished items from this pattern.  However, you may not reproduce or sell the pattern itself.  I just ask that you give me credit as the designer and that you link to my Etsy Shop (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/studi0107) if selling online.

Enjoy making and let me know how you get on.

Bye for now
